Dr. Sarah Davidson Evanega
Vice President of External Relations, Okanagan Specialty Fruits
Sarah is vice president of external relations at Okanagan Specialty Fruits, the company that developed the Arctic® Apple. Prior, she served as the director for stakeholder communication at Pairwise—which brought the first food developed with CRISPR to the US market. Sarah worked in the public sector in various roles at Cornell University where she still holds an adjunct faculty appointment in Plant Breeding and Genetics. At Cornell, she served as the founding executive director of the Cornell Alliance for Science—a global communications and capacity building initiative focused on improving access to agricultural biotechnology. She served as the senior associate director of International Programs in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell and was the senior associate director of the Durable Rust Resistance in Wheat project.
Sarah is the 2021 Borlaug CAST Communication Award winner and in 2022, she received the Mary Clutter Leadership in Science Public Service Award from the American Society of Plant Biologists. Sarah received her PhD in Plant Biology from Cornell University and a BA in Biology from Reed College.
