THE 2012 WORLD FOOD PRIZE was formally awarded to Dr. Daniel Hillel of Israel, during a ceremony at the magnificent Iowa State Capitol on October 18, 2012. The ceremony was held as part of the World Food Prize 2012 Borlaug Dialogue, themed “Partnerships and Priorities: Transforming the Global Food.”
Dr. Daniel Hillel received the World Food Prize for his role in conceiving and implementing a radically new mode of bringing water to crops in arid and dry land regions - known as “micro-irrigation.”
