Ms. Kimberly Flowers

Director, Humanitarian Agenda & Global Food Security Project

Kimberly Flowers, a frequent speaker and author, has two decades of experience in international development, strategic communications, and public policy. She is currently leading research on agricultural development and humanitarian aid as director of the Humanitarian Agenda and the Global Food Security Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). She has conducted field research in more than a dozen countries while at CSIS, including leading bipartisan congressional staff delegations.

Previously, she was the communications director for Fintrac, a company dedicated to hunger eradication and poverty alleviation through agriculture. From 2005 to 2011, she worked for USAID, serving as the communications officer in Ethiopia and Jamaica; supporting efforts in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake; and leading communications for the U.S. government’s global hunger and nutrition initiative. She began her career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria, where she founded a young women’s leadership camp that continues today
