Monica Joshua Maigari

Monica Joshua Maigari is a farmer and a primary school teacher from Madakiya, Nigeria. In 2014, Maigari was nominated for the Oxfam Female Food Heroine Nigeria #OgbongeWoman award and was a finalist out of 1,280 nominations. Maigari was noted for her entrepreneurial skills and leadership qualities. Since receiving this award, Maigari has become a community leader through implementing new agricultural techniques, diversifying the crops on her farm, and raising awareness about the effects of climate change in her region. Monica describes herself as a hard working woman dedicated to helping other women, especially those less privileged, to grow in their farming, and gain rights to land.
