Emily Boyden joined the World Food Prize Foundation in July 2022 as the Director of Communications. 

As Director of Communications, Emily oversees all communications projects, including press relations, social media and other outreach. She develops strategies to engage a wider audience and works to improve our press relations with local and national media.

Before joining the World Food Prize Foundation, Emily was the Communications Manager for The Harkin Institute for Public Policy & Citizen Engagement at Drake University. At the Harkin Institute, Emily was responsible for media relations, print and online materials and event planning, including the annual Sussman Lecture Series. She worked closely with the policy team members to disseminate important research and policy updates and managed a team of undergraduate student employees. 

Emily previously worked as a reporter for The Des Moines Register, covering local government and breaking news stories. In addition, she served as the Communications Director of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, leading rebranding efforts and directing public relations. 

Emily received a Master of Public Administration from Drake University in 2021 and a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Journalism and Political Science from Simpson College in 2010.
