Youth Voices: Shy the Explorer


Welcome to my newsletter! My name is Shywann Horne and I am currently 21 and exploring a new country! I am interning at IICA this summer in Costa Rica and this is my first time living/going out of the country, so this experience is very new to me. But this is showing me my adaptation abilities. I am very grateful for this opportunity.

Week 1: The Feels
Week one down in Costa Rica. Explaining how I feel could be done with one word. Unknown. It was a weird feeling this week. I didn't feel any emotions about being away or being in Costa Rica. June 5th was the first day of work. It went by good, just meeting people and getting used to working in a Spanish speaking environment.
I noticed that in any language I really do not say much. English I am quiet; I only say a lot with people that I am comfortable with. In Spanish it seems like I do not say anything, just breath.
