Peter Alastair Hicks exemplifies transformative leadership and innovation through the development and implementation of a scalable Village Level Food Processing Concept across the Mekong sub-region. By training core teams of people in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV), they catalyzed grassroots networks—empowering over 1,600 community-level trainers and counting. Their approach to traditional food product upgrading integrated market needs, food safety, and year-round availability, while ensuring nutritional value and economic opportunity. Through persistent collaboration with governments, rural communities, and international partners, pilot food processing sites were established in each CLMV country, fostering local entrepreneurship and creating family-based microenterprises.
