Carter Scallon
Coordinator II, Administrative Operations and Youth Programs
Carter Scallon joined the World Food Prize Foundation in April 2026 as Coordinator II, Administrative Operations and Youth Programs. In this position, he supports youth programming and the operational management of the Hall of Laureates.
In his role, Scallon coordinates student engagement initiatives, manages program logistics and contributes to partnership development across the Foundation’s global youth network. He also plays a key role in maintaining and advancing the Hall of Laureates, a LEED Platinum-certified facility recognized for high standards in energy efficiency and sustainable design. His responsibilities include overseeing vendor relationships, coordinating facility operations and supporting compliance with LEED performance standards related to energy use, environmental quality and sustainable site management.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Scallon served as a Peace Corps Community Conservation Promoter in Panama, where he led environmental education and sustainability initiatives in Spanish with students and local communities. He also developed and facilitated youth programming in Des Moines as a naturalist with West Des Moines Parks and Recreation and worked as a park ranger at Acadia National Park, delivering public education and visitor engagement programs.
He holds a bachelor of science in community and regional planning from Iowa State University, with a focus on ecological and environmental planning.
