USE IT OR LOSE IT: A global plan to safeguard fruit and vegetable biodiversity | World Vegetable Center - Crop Trust

10/21/2021 7:00 AM - 7:30 AM
Virtual - https://youtu.be/6yfsjfEdy3w

The many fruits and vegetables in food production systems contribute an astonishing array of colors, textures, flavors, and most importantly, vital nutrients to diets. Yet many of these species are under threat from land use, climate change, and other factors. Declining biodiversity limits our options for a sustainable, healthy food supply. Our panelists today have proposed a 10-year rescue plan for protecting genetic resources of the food plants that sustain life on earth.

Panelists:
• Dr. Maarten van Zonneveld, Genebank Manager, World Vegetable Center
• Dr. Nelissa Jamora, Agricultural Economist, Crop Trust
• Dr. Enoch Achigan-Dako, Genetics and Plant Breeding, University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin
