The World Food Prize Foundation announced today that Kate Levasseur has joined the organization as a Program Manager in the Archive department.
“The World Food Prize Foundation has a rich history with the global food security community, creating a venue for dialogues and a body of work on advancements in feeding the world,” said Barbara Stinson, President, World Food Prize Foundation. “Kate’s exceptional experience preserving the legacies of past leadership, and creating educational materials about these leaders will offer invaluable access to our historical materials.”
In this position, Ms. Levasseur will work closely with the Director of Communications to make the Foundation’s archived materials widely accessible and available to the public. This role strives to preserve and maintain the unique and historic records related to Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, as well as the World Food Prize Foundation’s Laureates, who bring a vast history of groundbreaking achievements addressing global hunger. Ms. Levasseur will train and supervise a small team in establishing a long-term physical and digital archive, while developing programming aimed at enhancing the educational value of the Hall of Laureates.

Before joining the World Food Prize Foundation, Ms. Levasseur played an influential role in a wide variety of museums and historical sites, many related to preserving and uplifting the rich history of Iowa. Previously, she worked at the Wells Fargo History Museum as the Associate Museum Manager. In this role, she directed daily operations of the museum, specifically focusing on program development, research and exhibit design.
Additionally, Ms. Levasseur formerly worked to maintain the historical significance of the Flynn Mansion at Living History Farms. As the Supervisor, Ms. Levasseur collaborated with the local community and corporate stakeholders when designing educational programs that incorporated historic documents, objects and research into its events.
In 2010, Ms. Levasseur graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor’s in History. She later returned to Drake University in 2017 to receive her Master’s in Public Administration.
Ms. Levasseur replaces Abby Schulte who left the organization in August 2021 to pursue her Master's Degree at George Washington University.
