Vikas Chaudhary

Farmer in Haryana, India

Mr. Vikas Chaudhary, a young and innovative farmer from Village Taraori, District Karnal, Haryana, serves as Secretary of the Society for Conservation of Natural Resources and Empowering Rural Youth. For over 15 years, he has partnered with CIMMYT India and ICAR on participatory climate-smart agriculture, promoting practices such as Happy Seeder use for residue management, no-tillage, laser land leveling and bed planting to conserve water and improve soil health.

As a service provider of conservation agriculture machinery, he enables fellow farmers to adopt climate-resilient methods, boosting sustainability and productivity across the region. He also produces seeds for high-yielding, climate-resilient wheat and rice varieties, ensuring access to quality, adaptive crops.

Recipient of multiple honors including the Dr. M.V. Rao Innovative Farmer Award (2023) and the IARI Fellow Award (2023), Mr. Chaudhary inspires others through field demonstrations, training and mentorship, driving agricultural transformation and building resilience against climate change in rural communities.
