International Potato Center

The International Potato Center (CIP) in Nairobi, Kenya has been hosting Borlaug-Ruan International Interns since 2024. 

Established in 1971, the International Potato Center (CIP) is a research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweet potato ​​​​​​​and Andean roots and tubers. It delivers innovative science-based solutions to enhance access to affordable nutritious food, foster inclusive sustainable business and employment growth, and drive the climate resilience of root and tuber agri-food systems. CIP carries out research and development in biodiversity; plant breeding; crop management; natural resource systems; and human health related to agriculture.

In addition to its headquarters in La Molina, Peru, CIP also has a research presence in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In 2024, the World Food Prize Foundation expanded its partnership to include internship placements at CIP Kenya in Nairobi.
