Kate Levasseur joined the World Food Prize Foundation in July of 2021 as Program Manager for the Archive department. 

In this position, Kate works closely with the Director of Communications to make the Foundation’s archived materials widely accessible and available to the public. This role strives to preserve and maintain the unique and historic records related to Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, as well as the World Food Prize Foundation’s vast history in recognizing groundbreaking achievements addressing global hunger. Kate will train and supervise her team in establishing a long-term physical and digital archive, while developing programming aimed at enhancing the educational value of the Hall of Laureates.

Before joining the World Food Prize Foundation, Kate played an influential role in a wide variety of museums and historical sites, many related to preserving and uplifting the rich history of Iowa. Previously, she worked at the Wells Fargo History Museum as the Associate Museum Manager. In this role, she directed daily operations of the museum, specifically focusing on program development, research and exhibit design. 

Additionally, Kate formerly worked to maintain the historical significance of the Flynn Mansion at Living History Farms. As the Supervisor, Kate collaborated with the local community and corporate stakeholders when designing educational programs that incorporated historic documents, objects and research into its events.

In 2021, Kate began volunteering as a board member at the West Des Moines Historical Society, furthering her commitment to supporting and celebrating Iowa’s history with the public.

Kate graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor’s in History in 2010. She later returned to Drake University to receive her Master’s in Public Administration in 2017.
