Dr. Alexa Lamm
2020 Borlaug CAST Communications Award Recipient; Associate Professor, University of Georgia
Dr. Alexa Lamm is an Associate Professor of Science Communication at the University of Georgia in their Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication. The strength Dr. Lamm brings to her science is a unique way of approaching the social issues that impact decision-making. She is a leader in the field of social science research as it relates to understanding how communication approaches and educational practice impacts the decision-making process and the ultimate adoption of new scientific technologies to advance agricultural production while maintaining a sustainable environment. Dr. Lamm has published over 160 peer-reviewed journal articles, garnered over $42.6M in extramural funding, and presented her findings hundreds of times using traditional and non-traditional media methods. She also teaches several graduate level science communication courses at the University of Georgia. Dr. Lamm is an international scholar, having conducted educational programs in over 32 countries around the world and currently serving as the Executive Editor of the Journal for International Agricultural and Extension Education. Her teaching, research, and service have been recognized by academic and industry groups no less than 60 times and most recently received the 2020 Borlaug CAST Communication Award.
