Elwyn Grainger-Jones

Elwyn Grainger-Jones is Managing Director, CGIAR Institutional Strategy and Systems, and Executive Director of the CGIAR System Organization, where he has worked with partners to help initiate the creation of One CGIAR. Prior to joining CGIAR, he spent over 20 years working in government institutions and development banks, where he held various leadership and change management positions, including Director of Policy, Partnerships and Operations at the Global Environment Facility in the World Bank; Director of the Environment and Climate Department in the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development; and Head of the Climate and Environment Department at the UK Department for International Development (DFID). He has worked with countries across the world, including leading a World Bank export diversification study in Botswana; supporting DFID’s work in Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union; and supporting the Government of Guyana as an Overseas Development Institute fellow. He holds an MSc in Economics.
