Dr. Chavonda Jacobs-Young
Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics (REE), USDA
Dr. Jacobs-Young is a native of Augusta, Georgia. She served in several leadership roles in USDA including Acting Under Secretary and Acting Chief Scientist for the Research, Education, and Economics mission area; Director of USDA’s Office of the Chief Scientist; Acting Director for USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
Dr. Jacobs-Young’s undergraduate and graduate degrees are in Paper Science from North Carolina State University. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, an If/Then Ambassador for AAAS, and a Presidential Rank Award winner.
