Daniel Voytas
Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer, Calyxt, Inc.
Dr. Dan Voytas is the Chief Science Officer and co-founder of Calyxt, Inc., a consumer-centric food and agriculture focused company. He is also a Professor in the Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and Development at the University of Minnesota and the Director of University’s Center for Precision Plant Genomics. It was at the University of Minnesota that Dr. Voytas co-invented the TALEN technology, which is one of the premier gene editing platforms. Dr. Voytas graduated from Harvard College in 1984 and received his Ph.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1990. He conducted postdoctoral research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Prior to joining the University of Minnesota, Dr. Voytas was a professor at Iowa State University (1992-2008).
