Dr. Ousmane Badiane
Director for Africa, International Food Policy Research Institute
Dr. Ousmane Badiane is the Director for Africa at the International Food Policy Research Institute, where he spent a total 20 years. Between his two tenures at IFPRI, he worked at the World Bank as Lead Specialist for Food and Agricultural Policy in the Africa Department and was Professor of economic development at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International studies. He received a PhD in agricultural economics from the University of Kiel in Germany. His awards include a Doctoral Degree Honoris Causa from the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa and induction as Distinguished Fellow of the African Association of Agricultural Economics. Dr. Badiane is the 2015 laureate of the Africa Food Prize.
