Pietro Gennari

Pietro Gennari is the Chief Statistician and the Director of the Statistics Division of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN. He coordinates the FAO statistical system by ensuring the corporate implementation of international statistical standards and best practices.
Currently he is also the Chair of the Chief Statisticians of the UN system, the co-Chair of the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA) and the Chair of the Committee on Agricultural Statistics of the International Statistical Institute. Mr Gennari has 30 years of professional experience in the main areas of official statistics and in managing statistical programmes, both at the national and international levels. Before joining FAO, he worked for the Italian National Institute of Statistics and for the UN Regional Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
