Science and Storytelling – Communicating complex research to key audiences

10/16/2018 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM
220 SE 6th Street, third floor, Des Moines, Iowa, 50309
Amber Bryant

We're pleased to invite you to a casual discussion with the 2018 World Food Prize Laureates at Lessing-Flynn.

World Food Prize Laureates use advanced thinking and complex research to improve the quality, quantity and availability of food. But in many cases, the benefits of science and technology can sometimes be a difficult story to tell. This year’s Laureates, Dr. Lawrence Haddad and Dr. David Nabarro, have dedicated their careers to bolstering global food security through an emphasis on nutrition among mothers and young children, a critical component of long-term global food security, especially in the developing world. Drs. Haddad and Nabarro will discuss how they mobilized political will and created compelling narratives about research and related work in order to foster greater understanding and informed action.

  • 2:00 p.m. – Check-in and opening reception
  • 2:30 p.m. – Panel Discussion: Science and Storytelling
  • 3:30 p.m. – Reception and networking hour, appetizers and cocktails will be available
