Global Farmer Roundtable—Second Session

10/16/2018 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Salons G & H, 2nd Floor | Des Moines Marriott Downtown
Mary Boote

This session, the second of three, will address the questions "What specific technologies and tools would help you maximize your farms productivity and sustainability?  To address food and nutritional security – for your family, community and the broader population? What tools and policies will help farmers get food from areas of plenty to areas of scarcity?"

The Global Farmer Roundtable gathers farmers from around the world to discuss current issues in food and nutritional security. A diverse group, the invited farmers range from smallholder to larger farmer. They are opinion leaders, highly motivated, early information and technology adopters who are willing to engage and serve as a resource to other farmers and the full food value chain.

During the facilitated Roundtable discussion, the invited farmers explore commonalities and discuss challenges they face as they work to maximize their farms’ productivity and profitability, highlighting the technologies, tools, practices, policies and systems needed to confront these challenges in a sustainable manner.

The 2018 Global Farmer Roundtable will be facilitated by Alan Bjerga, a longtime agricultural journalist.  The public is invited to observe the Global Farmer Roundtable discussion. Please join Mr. Bjerga as he talks with farmers from Australia, Argentina, India, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines and the United States.
