The Future of Farming: Access to Innovation to Achieve Food Security

10/17/2018 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM
Davenport & Dubuque Rooms, 3rd Floor | Des Moines Marriott Downtown
Deb Carstoiu

The farmer, the technology developer, and the development community will come together to explore how innovations and new farming tools will support sustainable agriculture in order to achieve food and nutrition security.

Today’s farmers face climate change and unpredictable growing conditions, changing pest and disease pressures, and an ever-expanding world population. This panel explores how new innovations can support farmer need, as well as the need for science-based, pro-innovation political and regulatory environments to get new tools into the hands of growers.

Panelists:

  • Julie Borlaug, Vice President of Communications and PR at Inari
  • Sarah Hovinga, Senior Scientist at Bayer
  • Patience Koku of the Global Farmer Network
  • Bonnie McClafferty, Director of the Food Value Chain at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition
