TITLE: Harnessing New Science and Technology Innovation for Africa’s Sustainable Food Security and Economic Growth

DESCRIPTION: Panel discussion will focus on the progress made by various African countries in the use of agricultural science, technology and innovation (STI) to enhance food security and economic growth. The panelists will highlight related agricultural policy issues, the progress made in developing appropriate biosafety regulatory regimes, and new opportunities through agribusiness public-private partnerships. The main objective is to enhance conversation between scientists, policy makers, diplomats, farmers and private businesses on STI challenges, especially related to biotechnology, facing African countries and how to overcome them. Speakers will also address issues of policy advocacy, capacity building and strengthening regulatory systems across Africa.
