World Food Prize Foundation Announces 19th Annual Iowa Hunger Summit Theme, Breakout Session and Exhibitor Applications Now Open

03/13/2025

The World Food Prize Foundation will host its annual Iowa Hunger Summit on July 30, 2025, at the Norman E. Borlaug Hall of Laureates, its international headquarters in Des Moines.

This free event, centered around the theme From the Ground Up, will bring together leaders and advocates from across Iowa to discuss complex hunger issues from birth to end of life. From the Ground Up underscores the importance of nurturing sustainable solutions to food insecurity at every stage of life. Lasting change requires a lifelong commitment to nutrition, from infancy to older adulthood.

By engaging in conversations about the root causes of hunger and seeking proven strategies from around Iowa and the country, we can strengthen the foundation of Iowa’s food systems to support health and well-being across generations. From early childhood development to aging with dignity, ensuring access to nutritious food across the lifespan is essential for building a resilient, food-secure future. Together, from the ground up, we can create communities where every individual, at every life stage, has the opportunity to thrive.

“The Iowa Hunger Summit is a chance for Iowans from all walks of life to come together, engage, collaborate and tackle the challenges of food and nutrition security in our state,” said Mashal Husain, President, World Food Prize Foundation. “The Foundation has a global impact, but our roots are in Iowa and we need to ensure our home state is food secure.”

Attendees can anticipate a powerful agenda featuring keynote speakers, interactive panel sessions and networking opportunities. Using their unique and diverse perspectives, leaders and experts from various fields will share their insights and strategies for confronting hunger and food insecurity. Registration will open in the summer of 2025.
