The World Food Prize Foundation announced today that Emma Casavecchia has assumed the position of Program Manager, Global Youth Programs and Partnerships.
“Emma’s work as a seasonal employee for the last 15 months impressed us all,” said Barbara Stinson, President, World Food Prize Foundation. “Her dedication to coordinating among key partners to benefit the participants in our youth programs is the type of commitment we need at the Foundation. I am looking forward to watching Emma grow as a young professional, taking the lead on several projects for the organization.”
In this role, Ms. Casavecchia manages key functions of over 25 WFPF Youth Institutes, guides the WFPF Board of Reviewers youth mentorship program and assists the Director of Global Youth Programs and Partnerships in coordinating the Foundation’s education programs around the world.

Ms. Casavecchia began her time at the World Food Prize Foundation as a George Washington Carver Intern in 2017. As the Youth Programming and Education Intern, Ms. Casavecchia assisted the Director of National Education Programs in expanding the Foundation’s youth and global institutes. Shortly after, Ms. Casavecchia was a Rising Star Intern at Iowa State University’s Extension and Outreach Program. Her responsibilities included designing and implementing a farmers market for a local, Iowa community, developing essential partnerships and connections within rural areas of the state.
While completing her undergraduate education, Ms. Casavecchia spent a semester in Kamuli, Uganda as an intern for the Iowa State University - Uganda Program. Her team worked alongside families in the Kamuli District to construct and maintain their household gardens.
In April of 2020, Ms. Casavecchia returned to the World Food Prize Foundation to lead the Board of Reviewers Program. She organized Youth Institute registration, managed the Board of Reviewers and maintained essential communication with coordinators.
During Ms. Casavecchia’s undergraduate education at Iowa State University, she studied abroad in China, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Uganda. Each of these opportunities focused on agriculture, trade, horticulture and history, expanding her knowledge and understanding of global food security.
Ms. Casavecchia graduated with distinction from Iowa State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 2019 with a B.S. Degree in Global Resource Systems and a minor in Horticulture.
