The World Food Prize Foundation extends its condolences to the family of Senator John Culver

12/27/2018

On behalf of our Chairman John Ruan III and all of us at the World Food Prize Foundation, I extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family of Senator John Culver on his passing. Senator Culver was a great friend of our Foundation and we were pleased to have honored him together with Representative Jim Leach at our bi-partisan Hoover-Wallace Dinner in Iowa City in 2008.

Senator Culver was also featured during the World Food Prize Borlaug Dialogue International Symposium, when he made a fascinating presentation on the legacy of Henry A. Wallace, whom the Senator had profiled in his biography American Dreamer.

-Amb. Kenneth M. Quinn

Ambassador Quinn also wishes to express great personal appreciation for the Senator. While the Ambassador was a young college student from Dubuque, then a Congressman, Culver made significant efforts to assist him in applying to enter the U.S. Foreign Service, where he would have a 32-year career as an American diplomat.
