Hall of Laureates

May 15, 2012 -- The World Food Prize Hall of Laureates in Des Moines, Iowa, will begin hosting public tours each Tuesday and Saturday morning, starting on Saturday, May 22, 2012.

This magnificent architectural gem on the Des Moines Riverwalk, formerly the historic Des Moines Public Library, underwent a $30 million renovation, and now features historic architecture and over 100 works of original art that celebrate food, agriculture and Iowa's humanitarian heritage.

Hours will be as follows:

  • On Tuesday mornings, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., people may join docent-guided tours of the building, given on the hour.
  • On Saturday mornings, from 8 a.m. to noon, people may explore the building freely, and docents will be available in each room to answer questions.

All tours are free of charge. The building, located at 100 Locust Street, will be closed on holiday weekends, and occasionally for special events; please visit www.worldfoodprize.org/visit for updates.
