World Food Prize Foundation Announces Appointment of New Global Youth Programs Coordinator

The World Food Prize Foundation announced today that Austin Castillo-Leovan has joined its staff as a Program Coordinator. 

“Austin brings energy and passion to our team with his experience empowering and engaging our future leaders,” said Barbara Stinson, President of the World Food Prize Foundation. “I am confident that his approach to building relationships and relevant programs in youth education will be an asset to our Global Youth Programs.”

As a Program Coordinator, Mr. Castillo-Leovan is responsible for assisting the Director of Global Programs and Partnerships in the coordination, innovation and expansion of the Foundation’s youth empowerment and education programs around the world. 

Prior to his position at the World Food Prize Foundation, Mr. Castillo-Leovan was a Program Facilitator at Al Exito, where he co-facilitated a student run after-school programs for Latin/Hispanic youth, engaging them in large and small group discussions on college prep, identity, and community enrichment while facilitating team building and leadership development activities. 

"I am humbled to be able to be a part of such a dedicated team that develops, inspires, and connects young leaders in the movement to end hunger,” said Mr. Castillo-Leovan.

Mr. Castillo-Leovan graduated from Iowa State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Geology. While at Iowa State University, Mr. Castillo-Leovan was a program assistant for the Urban Ecosystems Project, facilitating culturally-responsive science programming for elementary school students and coordinating a Saturday Science Club program for middle school students. He was active in the community and campus life as a mentor for Science Bound, as well as a volunteer at Moulton Elementary School, Children and Family Urban Movement and Iowa 4-H. During his undergraduate education Mr. Castillo-Leovan studied abroad at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia.
