China Agricultural University
The China Agricultural University (CAU) in Beijing, China has hosted eleven high school interns since 2004.
Established in 1995, the CAU strives to promote worldwide academic exchange and collaboration.
The CAU carries out research and development in agriculture, biology, engineering, veterinary medicine, economics, management, humanities, and social sciences.
Interns at CAU work alongside renowned international researchers and experts - Dr. Li Zhaohu, Lin Jian, and Wu Tingting - in the CAU's research labs in Beijing.
The students also have the opportunity to travel around China with their host families and colleagues to see the Great Wall of China, the silk markets, the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, and the Olympic Stadium.

You will own an individual room in an apartment with two graduates together. You are going to have your meals at University Hall with the graduate student. The Graduate student will be with you most of the time.

Is it advisable for me to bring a laptop computer with me?
Yes, you can use your laptop anytime.
Will I have access to a work computer?
Yes, you can use the computers in the lab.
Will I receive an orientation to local customs, where I should and should not go, wise safety practice for the area, etc.? Would such guidance/mentoring throughout the summer come from a person other than my direct project supervisor? If so, who is the person and how do I contact her/him?
The mentor will be around all the time and graduates will be of assistance.
Is the workweek Monday through Friday? The typical workday consists of how many hours?
Your schedule is quite flexible. 8 hrs are our work time for five days.
In case of a medical need or emergency, is there a clinic or medical facility near the place I will be working?
Yes, there is a medical facility close to the center.
