Title: USDA/FAS Side Event “Bridging the Data Gap: Market Information and Technology from Farm to Government”

Time: 9:45am to 11:30am

Location: Salon C

Description: This panel, which is hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), will bring together experts from government, academia, and the private sector to discuss the role of market information and technology in strengthening global food security.  The gathering, analysis, and dissemination of data are critical to ensuring that farmers and policymakers have the most accurate information upon which to make key decisions.  The panel will pay particular attention to the use of data to build market linkages, monitor food security developments, and enhance technological adoption.  The panel will also highlight the FAS Borlaug Fellowship Program which provides collaborative research and training opportunities at U.S. universities for scientists, researchers, and policymakers from developing and middle-income countries.  The program was founded in honor of Dr. Norman E. Borlaug in 2004.
