More than 700 people attended the 2006 World Food Prize International Symposium, held October 18-20, 2006 in Des Moines, Iowa.

The theme of the symposium was "The Green Revolution Redux: Can We Replicate the Single Greatest Period of Food Production in All Human History?"

As a special honor to the founder of The World Food Prize and the "Father of the Green Revolution," Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, in 2006 The World Food Prize International Symposium was officially renamed the Dr. Norman E. Borlaug International Symposium.

The 2006 International Symposium also marked the 20th Anniversary of The World Food Prize.
