Dr. Akinwumi Adesina wins the 2017 World Food Prize for his incredible work in reducing corruption in the fertilizer industry, increasing credit for smallholder farmers and expanding food production by 21 million metric tons. #FoodPrize17


 

The World Food Prize announces its 2017 Laureate Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, a transformational leader in African agriculture who expanded Nigeria’s food production by 21 million metric tons and attracted $5.6 billion in investments. His work shaped agriculture and positively impacted millions of farmers across the continent. #FoodPrize17 


 

Known as ‘Africa’s Norman Borlaug,’ 2017 World Food Prize Laureate Dr. Akinwumi Adesina led transformational reforms that helped millions across Africa gain access to agricultural technologies that raised farm production and farmer income.
