05/06/2024

Today, the World Food Prize Foundation announced the opening of registration for the annual Iowa Hunger Summit. This FREE event, centered around the theme Seeds of Nourishment: Elevating Iowa’s Food Systems, will bring together leaders and advocates from across the state to discuss pressing hunger issues on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Norman E. Borlaug Hall of Laureates.

“The Iowa Hunger Summit offers an incredible opportunity for Iowans to advocate for solutions to food insecurity,” said Ambassador Terry Branstad, President, World Food Prize Foundation. “Registering for this event will put one in close proximity with like-minded, passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference in Iowa’s food systems.”

This year's Iowa Hunger Summit will invite attendees to consider food supply chains across the state, uncovering both the challenges and innovative solutions for improving nutritious food security. Through interactive breakout sessions, panels and expert-led keynotes, the event will deliberate strategies for a more sustainable, hunger-free future, promoting networking among food security champions.

“The Iowa Hunger Summit is a unique event, gathering dedicated hunger fighters from across sectors and the state,” said Alyssa Brown, Program Manager, International Dialogues, World Food Prize Foundation. “It is always reenergizing to me to see new partnerships formed and ideas exchanged among attendees.”

Event-exclusive exhibitors and breakout presenters will be available throughout the event, offering reflections and advice about combating food insecurity. Attendees will also have the opportunity to be among the first to meet about the recipient(s) of the Robert D. Ray SHARES Humanitarian Award which will be announced later this summer.
