Chairperson and Executive Director at Grow Indigo

Dr. Usha Barwale Zehr leads M/s. Grow Indigo Private Limited, a joint venture between Mahyco Grow and Indigo Ag, USA, as Chairperson and Executive Director. Grow Indigo is pioneering sustainable agriculture in India by promoting regenerative practices including carbon farming, biological crop care and digital agriculture.

An alumna of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Zehr has extensive experience in applied genetics and biotechnology for crop improvement, both in India and the USA. Her primary interest lies in applying the latest advances in crop genetics and biotechnology to deliver innovative, sustainable farming solutions for smallholder farmers.

Dr. Zehr also serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Director on the Board of Mahyco Pvt. Ltd., India’s pioneering hybrid seed company, and is a Director of the Barwale Foundation, a nonprofit research organization.
