Description:

Pella Community Food Shelf is more than a food pantry, we are a relationship-centered ministry committed to addressing hunger through compassion, dignity, and community connection. We provide shelf-stable groceries as well as fresh produce, meat, bakery items, and other nutritious foods to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. In addition to food assistance, we offer education and advocacy that help participants navigate resources, build life skills, and move toward greater stability. Through classes and learning opportunities for both adults and children, we seek to strengthen families, encourage healthy living, and foster a thriving community where everyone has access to the support they need.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers play a vital role in every aspect of our mission. Opportunities include:

Food Rescue & Pickup: Collect donated food from local retailers, businesses, and community partners.
Guest Services: Welcome and assist guests during distributions, helping create a respectful and hospitable experience.
Food Sorting & Quality Control: Sort donations, inspect items for quality and expiration dates, organize inventory, and prepare food for distribution.
Classroom & Educational Support: Teach or assist with classes for adults and children on topics such as nutrition, cooking, budgeting, life skills, and personal development.
Special Events & Community Engagement: Support fundraisers, food drives, outreach efforts, and community education initiatives.

Volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome, with opportunities available for both one-time projects and ongoing service commitments.
