2014 Ceremony

THE 2014 WORLD FOOD PRIZE was formally awarded to Dr. Sanjaya Rajaram of India and Mexico during a ceremony at the incredible Iowa State Capitol on October 16, 2014. The ceremony took place during the 2014 World Food Prize Borlaug Dialogue which was themed, "The Greatest Challenge in Human History: Can We Sustainably Feed the 9 Billion People on our Planet by the Year 2050?”

Dr. Rajaram received the 2014 World Food Prize for his incredible scientific achievements in wheat that led to an extraordinary worldwide harvest that built upon the achievement of the Green Revolution.

This ceremony marked the centennial year of Dr. Norman Borlaug's birth, who passed a few years previously. Kavita Shah, talented jazz singer, performed two songs during the ceremony. Mexican trumpeters and a children's choir also accompanied the ceremony.
