Jim Leape is a globally respected leader in sustainability, with over four decades of experience advancing systemic change across food, conservation, and development sectors. As former Director General of WWF International, he led one of the world’s largest conservation networks, forging global partnerships and driving sustainable practices across industries and governments. He currently serves as Co-Director of the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions and Senior Fellow at the Stanford Woods Institute, where he co-led the Blue Food Assessment—pioneering efforts to integrate aquatic foods into global food and climate policy. Leape co-founded the Aquatic Blue Food Coalition and advises the Indonesian government on incorporating blue foods into national development strategies. His previous roles include Director of Conservation and Science at the Packard Foundation and counsel to the UN Environment Programme. A trusted advisor to institutions such as the World Economic Forum and the Bezos Earth Fund, Leape is a transformative force in ocean sustainability and food system innovation.
