Leigh Ann Winowiecki

Dr. Leigh Ann Winowiecki is the Soil and Land Health Global Research Lead at CIFOR-ICRAF, based in Nairobi, Kenya. A renowned soil scientist, her work focuses on farmer-centered landscape restoration and soil organic carbon. Since 2009, she has co-developed the Land Degradation Surveillance Framework (LDSF) implemented in over 40 countries. Leigh co-leads the Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH) and is a key contributor to the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. She holds a PhD in Tropical Agroforestry and Soil Science and has published extensively on soil health and land degradation across sub-Saharan Africa and the tropics.
