Alvian Wardhana

Indonesia | Ag Education

Alvian Wardhana is the founder of Literasi Anak Banua, an educational initiative launched in 2018 to improve literacy among children in rural South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Inspired by his experiences as a child from a rural village who faced challenges in the education system, Alvian dedicated himself to bridging the gap between urban and rural education. Noticing the lack of interest in farming among youth, he conceived the innovative "Sakula Patani" project, or "Farmer School," to inspire students to partake in traditional farming practices. Under his leadership, Literasi Anak Banua has expanded to 17 villages, providing free tutoring, creating small libraries, and engaging children in both academic and extracurricular activities. Alvian's work has helped over 1,800 children improve their reading skills and pursue their educational goals. His initiative also fosters youth leadership and community involvement, aiming to create sustainable, positive change in these underserved areas.
