The World Food Prize Foundation announced today that its annual Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue will take place October 20-22, 2021. The 2021 events will feature a wide range of activities, many open to the public.
Through a series of live and virtual components, registrants will hear from leaders and champions in food systems transformation, dive into interdisciplinary discussions and interact with new and familiar partners and colleagues. Each day, the Dialogue will offer various sessions - panel discussions, roundtable sessions, side events and workshops - all designed for deeper exploration into topics relating to food security.
Transforming food systems will require multifaceted solutions that address numerous vulnerabilities simultaneously, including building forward from a historical focus on increased agricultural productivity to a movement aimed at achieving a sustainable, equitable and nourishing food system. The interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary nature of food systems call for collaborative, innovative and evidence-based interventions. Centering human and planetary health, gender equity and youth participation at every stage is essential for comprehensive and impactful change.
Participants will connect with one another through a dynamic, virtual platform. The Dialogue will also offer limited in-person sessions through an early registration process. In-person events will remain in accordance with travel and public health provisions anticipated for October 2021.
How to Get Involved:
Interactive Partner Workshops - Interactive Partner Workshops will be featured as part of the plenary agenda of the International Borlaug Dialogue (IBD). The workshops provide the opportunity for registered participants to define key issues, explore problems and learn about new strategies, tools and technologies in food systems. Side Events - A prominent feature of the International Borlaug Dialogue, side events provide a space for organizations to coordinate and execute a unique event in conjunction with the Dialogue. Virtual Side Event Host Organizers design these gatherings to demonstrate their work, promote further dialogue, and engage attendees through hosted events, panels, receptions and announcements.
