ZibaHarvest is an AgriTech innovation venture by Zibaharvest Ltd, tackling the critical challenge of post-harvest food loss in Sub-Saharan Africa. Up to 30% of fruits and vegetables harvested by smallholder farmers perish within days due to inadequate storage and preservation. ZibaHarvest introduces the ZibaBox and ZibaVault—a low-cost, solar-assisted, modular passive cooling and drying solution designed to extend the shelf life of perishable crops from 3 days to up to 26 days, without reliance on grid electricity.
Our innovation is climate-smart and tailored to the realities of rural off-grid farmers. Leveraging radiative night cooling, thermosyphon principles and local materials, the ZibaVault preserves crop freshness, enables batch cooling/drying, reduces spoilage, and enhances food safety. Through strategic deployment across farming clusters and value chains, ZibaHarvest increases farmer income, reduces food insecurity, and enables more inclusive participation in local and regional markets.
ZibaHarvest is not just a product—it’s a platform for social impact and agricultural resilience. We collaborate with farmer-based organizations, NGOs, and development partners to empower women, youth, and underserved communities with climate-resilient storage infrastructure and training. Our scalable model allows for lease-to-own options and group ownership schemes, driving affordability and long-term community ownership.
By addressing post-harvest losses—a major contributor to food system inefficiencies and farmer poverty—ZibaHarvest delivers direct economic benefits while contributing to climate mitigation through reduced food waste and emissions. Our mission is to transform agricultural livelihoods by turning harvest into lasting value.
