2017 Press Room Schedule of Events and Hours

During World Food Prize Week press and media partners are required to check in at the press room when arriving onsite for the first time. Press and media partners are required to present an ID to pick up World Food Prize Week credentials. 

  • Verified members of the press will need to produce a valid press badge in order to collect their credentials for access to any events during the World Food Prize Week of Events. If you do not have a valid press pass onsite at the event you will not be permitted entry. 
  • For event security purposes, event organizers cannot guarantee entry to media that have not registered ahead of time; they may be required to wait for credentials to be issued and may not be able to be accommodated. 

Monday, October 16

Tuesday, October 17

Wednesday, October 18

Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. David Beckmann Press Conference
    • Rev. David Beckmann, a 2010 World Food Prize Laureate, will discuss proposed budget cuts the United States Congress is considering to domestic programs and international assistance, and how these cuts would increase hunger in the U.S. and around the world. Rev. Beckmann will also discuss how reauthorization of the Farm Bill next year can help to end hunger.
  • 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and Appplication Recipient Press Conference
    • Press have the opportunity to speak with the 2017 Norman Borlaug Field Award Recipient
  • 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Fall Armyworm: A Clear and Present Danger to Africa´s Food Security Press Conference
    • Press have the opportunity to speak with 2017 WFP Laureate Dr. Adesina and 2002 Laureate Dr. Pedro Sanchez

Thursday, October 19

Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • 11:00 a.m.  – 11:30 a.m. TAAT Press Conference
    • The announcement of the launch of TAAT, a major multimillion dollar African agricultural initiative, in conjunction with some of the African Development Bank's leading partners. 
  • 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 2017 Laureate Press Conference
    • Press have the opportunity to speak with the 2017 Laureate Dr. Adesina. 

Friday, October 20

Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

  • 9:15 a.m. Global Farmer Network Press Conference
