Director of Planning
Meghna Ravishankar joined the World Food Prize Foundation as the Director of Planning in March 2019. She is responsible for the coordination and implementation of major programs and activities directly related to World Food Prize events including the Borlaug Dialogue international Symposium, the Laureate Announcement Ceremony and other special events. Meghna was a George Washington Carver intern in 2015 and 2016, and briefly served on the World Food Prize board of reviewers for the Youth Institutes.
Meghna grew up in Bangalore, India and moved to Iowa in 2013 to attend Grinnell College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Development and Entrepreneurship. During her time at Grinnell she spent a semester in the Netherlands studying about the European refugee crisis in 2015 as well as social policy around gender, trafficking and prostitution. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Sustainable International Development with a focus in knowledge management at the Heller School for Social Policy at Brandeis University.
Prior to joining the World Food Prize, Meghna worked at the United Nations Development Programme in New York on the Global Programme on Nature for Development. Her work was focused on supporting multi-stakeholder approaches to promote the role of nature for development, climate change mitigation and adaptation.
