On October 14-15, over 400 individuals, including Nobel and World Food Prize Laureates, government officials, research scientists, international experts, business representatives and leaders of anti-hunger advocacy organizations joined together in Des Moines for the 2004 World Food Prize International Symposium. The symposium also coincided with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's International Year of Rice.
