According to organizers, the event had a threefold mission. First, the symposium aimed to bring together individuals with interest in building human capacity and leadership on food for nutrition in developing countries.

Its next goal was to explore how leadership skills can be developed in food and nutrition for critical national development.

Finally, the event considered enhancing organizational, technical and scientific skills to address global nutritional challenges as an essential and challenging task.
