World Food Prize Banners to Grace Iowa Capitol

Tuesday, October 3, 9:30-10:00 a.m., Iowa State Capitol

The visual kickoff of the 2006 World Food Prize events will commence Tuesday, October 3 with the hanging of the World Food Prize banners above the west entrance of the Iowa State Capitol. The event will informally begin the annual World Food Prize Harvest Festival, a month-long series of events throughout Iowa highlighted by the Laureate Award Ceremony held inside the House Chamber of the State Capitol.

The World Food Prize banners haven’t appeared on the Capitol building since the Prize was first awarded there in 2000. Neumann Brothers construction, who has performed restoration work to the Capitol in recent years, is providing the crane and other equipment necessary to hang the banners.
