World Food Prize Foundation Announces New Program Manager, Development and Finance

The World Food Prize Foundation (WFPF) announced today that Mackenzie Carlson has joined the organization as the new Program Manager, Development and Finance. 

As Program Manager, Mackenzie will support and implement WFPF’s fundraising strategy and improve processes for finance management. Her responsibilities will include grant writing, donor relations, budgeting, spreadsheet management and financial reporting. 

“Mackenzie’s background in development and operations is a great asset to the Foundation. In addition, her excellent fundraising and nonprofit management skills will improve the World Food Prize Foundation for years to come,” said Barbara Stinson, World Food Prize Foundation President. “We are so excited to have her on board and can’t wait to see how she helps the Foundation grow.”

Before accepting the position at WFPF, Ms. Carlson worked as the Executive Director of the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce in Iowa. Through her work, she fostered new business relationships and sourced funding for Chamber of Commerce projects. Ms. Carlson also previously served as the Internship Coordinator for Vote Smart, where she managed 30 interns each semester and the accounts and budget. In her spare time, she volunteers with the Greater Des Moines Street Collective, working to improve safe and active transportation for all.

I have always dreamed about working for a world-renowned organization recognized for its ability to create positive change,” said Ms. Carlson. “My background in development, operations and nonprofit management will serve me well in creating modernized, diverse income streams to serve the mission of the World Food Prize Foundation." 

Mackenzie graduated from DePaul University magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Mackenzie wrote her thesis on women in politics.
