World Food Prize Announces the Opening of the 2019 Iowa Hunger Summit Breakout Session Application Process

02/15/2019

The World Food Prize announced today the opening of the breakout session application process for the annual Iowa Hunger Summit.

The Iowa Hunger Summit gathers leaders from across Iowa representing community organizations, business and industry, state and local government, social agencies, churches and religious communities, schools and universities, civic and social clubs, and other individuals and groups that lead or participate in projects to confront hunger. The annual Iowa Hunger Summit is attended by between 500 to 700 hunger fighters from across the state.

Given the increased demand for opportunities to present at the event, the World Food Prize is starting this application process earlier in order to give all possible participants the opportunity to be considered. This year the Hunger Summit  will feature two types of sessions: Breakout Sessions and Student Breakout Sessions.

  1. Breakout Sessions will provide an opportunity for attendees of the Iowa Hunger Summit to engage in in-depth conversations with a variety of national and state based organizations that host the sessions. Session hosts will offer practical tools for attendees to further involve themselves in combating food insecurity in Iowa and around the world. Breakout Sessions are 45 minutes in length and will take place following the Hunger Summit Luncheon.

  2. Student Breakout Sessions provide an opportunity for high school and middle school students to engage in a conversation with a variety of national and state based organizations that host sessions and offer practical tools for students to further involve themselves in combating food insecurity in Iowa and around the world. Student Breakout Sessions are 45 minutes in length and will take place during the “Morning Panel Sessions” from 10am - 11:45am with the Iowa Hunger Luncheon to follow at 12pm.
