The World Food Prize Seeks Nominations for Prestigious Borlaug Field Award

06/06/2018

The World Food Prize Foundation has announced the last call for nominations for the seventh annual Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and Application, due June 15.

The Borlaug Field Award recognizes exceptional, science-based achievement in international agriculture and food production by an individual under 40 who has clearly demonstrated intellectual courage, stamina and determination in the fight to eliminate global hunger and poverty.

This prestigious award offers a USD $10,000 prize endowed by the Rockefeller Foundation in 2011. The World Food Prize Foundation presents the prize during the annual Norman Borlaug International Symposium, which will take place Oct. 17-19 this year.

Dr. Zhenling Cui, a research scientist at China Agricultural University, won the 2017 Borlaug Field Award for his research and innovations that improved nitrogen efficiency, yielded larger maize and wheat harvests, reduced soil degradation and curtailed water pollution in the North China Plain.
