The World Food Prize Foundation Seeks Summer and Fall Intern Applications

03/09/2018

The World Food Prize Foundation is seeking applications for its prestigious George Washington Carver (GWC) Internship for the summer and fall semester. The internship offers unparalleled professional experience in the fields of graphic design, public relations and communications, event planning, and youth programming and education.

“The GWC Internship has allowed me to see first-hand how a nonprofit functions. I have been exposed to numerous organizations that support world hunger initiatives, and I hope to get connected to those locally once I return to school out-of-state,” said Brianna Young, the National Expansion Intern for the summer of 2017.

GWC Interns work one-on-one with a staff mentor and are given the opportunity to take significant responsibility in developing, planning, and carrying out a wide range of the Foundation’s projects. Through this experience, interns become an integral part of this internationally renowned organization and interact with World Food Prize Laureates, government officials, international experts in science and agriculture, leaders in industry and business, and members of local and national media.

“This internship has been an all-around amazing experience for me. I’d recommend the internship to anyone who is looking to be treated as an equal in a professional working environment; anyone who has an interest working for a non-profit someday; anyone who wants to never get bored; or anyone who is just looking for a meaningful internship experience with fun staff to be alongside every day,” said Ashton Temple, a graphic design intern for the summer of 2017.

The internship is flexible to successful candidates’ schedules, but a minimum commitment of 12 hours per week for three months is required. While the position is unpaid, students may be eligible for course credit.
